A wind mitigation inspection is done to determine if a structure's construction can withstand strong winds such as those present in hurricane and may be required before an Insurance company will issue a Homeowner’s Insurance Policy or for premium discounts. At the Florida Building Inspection Group, our process includes looking for construction features such as a hip roof, concrete block construction, the presence of gable end bracing, shutters and opening protections, the presence of roof to wall attachments such as clips or hurricane straps, and a secondary water resistance barrier.
In Florida, a wind mitigation inspection is performed by a licensed General Contractor, Engineer or Home inspector and can be performed at the same time as a Roof Certification and 4-Point Inspection.
